Using Your Out-of-Network Provider Benefit

Using an Out-of-Network provider comes with both pros and cons. The primary benefit is that it prevents a third party from having any say in your therapy services. You become the sole decision maker in what type of therapy you receive, the frequency and length of your sessions, and the duration of your treatment. Out-of-Network care also affords you a greater level of privacy. Your diagnosis information, meeting notes, and treatment plans will not be accessible to your insurance carrier.

The primary downside of Out-of-Network care is that the costs are variable. We included a FAQ below to help you navigate the challenges of getting reimbursed for our services. Potential options include covering costs, superbilling your insurance carrier, or using your HSA/FSA. The success of these strategies varies by insurance provider.

Out-of-Network FAQ

Can I use my out-of-network benefits?

- Absolutely! We encourage you to call your insurance company and ask the following questions:

  • Do you have out-of-network coverage for behavioral health?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible?

  • Once my deductible is met, what percentage of out-of-network service fees do you cover?

Can Eiri Therapy help me get reimbursed by my insurance carrier?

- We can! We generate a unique "superbill" receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please note that superbills include a diagnosis.

 How do you process payments?

- We keep your credit card on file. Our automated system charges you the evening after a session, unless we make other arrangements.

 How will we handle billing?

- I keep a credit card on file for all clients. My automated system will charge your card the evening after our sessions unless we make other arrangements. You'll be charged my full fee the day we meet.

How long does it take to get reimbursed after submitting a claim?

- The answer to this question varies depending on the insurance carrier. Typically insurance companies mail physical checks to reimburse their policyholders. As a general policy, we do not accept payment from insurance companies directly. We recommend you use the "select payment to the customer" option when submitting a claim. We are happy to help you navigate this process!
